A Note to Chaperones:
First of all, we would like to thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to join us for this adventure. Your role is so vital and the program would not be able to run without you. Now you might be asking yourself exactly what it is you should do while you are here. First off, the teachers will have specific instructions for you, especially while you are not in class. But, during class there are some things you can do that will make our classes run a lot smoother. First of all, do everything the kids do! When we ask for the kids to follow directions, they will look to you for example! Get involved! If you participate in the class along with the students not only will you learn amazing things, but it will make this experience far more exciting for you. Also, put away your phones! Take this time to enjoy the beautiful forest that surrounds you. Phones will distract from our class, so if you must use your phone please do it discretely and away from the students.
Technology?
We do have Wifi and some cell reception. We ask that you do not use your phone around the students, if need be you can step away from the group to use your phones. We do have a lounge as a special space for chaperones to rest and recuperate.
How to Prepare:
Did you check the Packing List?
Bring lots of warm layers!
Get lots of sleep before arriving!
As a Thank You
To show our gratitude for your time and efforts we have provided a salad bar in the Dining Hall that is a special treat. Full of lots of fruit and vegetables, you will be fully stocked with goodies that will help you get through the day.
When you get a moment to relax come to the "Lizard Lounge," a room off limits to students that has wifi a soda machine for you to purchase soft beverages.
We also offer lots of coffee (caffeinated and decaffeinated) and tea. Please help yourself! We have cups but feel free to bring a reusable thermos to enjoy your beverage in an Earth friendly way.
Remember, this is a special treat for you so we must ask that you do not share the salad bar with the students, nor bring the soda around them (it would not seem fair to them that you have soda and they cannot).
Thank you!
