Sierra Outdoor School is a ROSS Certified program through the California Outdoor School Association (COSA). Outdoor schools belonging to
COSA are owned and operated by county offices of education or independent school districts. The curriculum at these sites is tied to current
California state content standards for science and social studies as well as the new
Education in the Environment Initiative (EEI) concepts. COSA programs go through a ROSS (Residential Outdoor Science School) certification process every five years that is similar to Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) or Program Quality Review (PQR) and recognized by the California Department of Education as our evaluation tool. COSA affiliated schools are located throughout California and represent the richness in diversity of California's natural landscape.
