• Exploration Hike-  Introductions all around! Discover our forest and meet other families. We’ll play games and get to know the locale.
   
• Campfire- Enjoy a fire under a starry sky surrounded by pines; hot cocoa and good company. Bring your musical instrument, favorite short story or poem. Think of it like an open mic with s’mores. Staff will contribute opening and closing entertainment.
   
• Arts and Crafts- A leisurely afternoon on picnic tables with instruction and materials for making natural paper journals,
  dream catchers, animal prints, nature jewelry, forest leaf candles, and nature sketching.
   
• Star Watch-  More than just stars! You’ll hear star legends and with our telescopes you’ll see planets, moons, binary star systems, star clusters, galaxies and constellations.
   
• Ropes Course- A rope is made of many strands, all twisted together to be as strong as can be. In order to become a strong family, or team, like a rope is, we will do rock climbing and a high ropes course with zipline, build trust and understanding, and play games that tie a family together.
   
• Meeting the Birds- Easy hike bringing you very close to feathered wildlife, and a personal encounter with
  a live hawk, vulture, and golden eagle.
   
• Survival- Practice skills you need to stay safe while having fun in the forest. We’ll learn to use compasses and what to do if you get lost. We’ll practice how to build a shelter, keep alive, and be found again!
   
• Night Hike- Short stroll under the moon and stars, feeling and thinking like a nocturnal animal, and a visit with an owl.
   
• Mountain Biking- Moderate bike trip on a forest trail and alongside a stream.
   
• Pinecrest Lake Field Trip-  A day at the beach! Kayaking, swimming, hiking, bird watching at Pinecrest Lake.

Many of our visitors also like to take advantage of Sierra Outdoor School’s convenient location to plan further excursions to Yosemite,  Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Columbia Historic Gold-Rush Town, Mercer and Moaning Caverns, and other nearby places of interest in the Mother Lode.
